The boys are starting to really know some things. Well, sure, they know a lot of things, but they are starting to know things well enough to be able to teach it. The problem, right now though, is they still have “little boy voices” that are hard to understand on a video. That’s why I a) limit their amount of talking, having me do most of the explaining, and b) caption, in the edit, what they have to say so you see it even if you have closed captioning turned off.
But those are things I do for the audience to make the video valuable to you.
What is so cool and valuable to me about this type of video where the boys have brought the subject and the major topics of that subject is that they are growing confident enough to want to share.
The origin of this video was simply asking them if they wanted to make a video after we completed our most recent new year’s winter camping trip (an outing that has become a family tradition). They said they’d like to share tips about how to stay warm in a very cold camp. I asked them what tips they wanted to share and they each came up with three. Those six tips became the major points of this video. So, take a look at the video and see if there is something in there of use to you.
And there we have it: a video that (hopefully) is helpful to you and a video that is also a growth opportunity for my boys.
Win, win… as they say. ;)
